Storybook cottages, one for each month of the year, combine to finish this log cabin quilt. In the Little Things, there is the Greatest Joy. When I drew this picture, filled with all the little things that bring me joy, I left a space for some words of wisdom. I have many wonderful poems and quotes that I have collected throughout the years, but I couldn't find just the right verse. One night, while visiting with my sister, we came up with this short saying. The words are simple and few, but they say it all. I love to look through my collection of books of antique quilts. The quilt that inspired the embroidery in this small quilt pattern was very busy and full of color. Although I was really drawn to it, I wanted to try creating something similar with a monochromatic color scheme. This same quilt was the inspiration for my new line of fabric with Moda called Redbird in the Bowers. The title for the pattern is the title to a little poem I found years ago. I have always loved the words.
